TSelectorEntries Class Reference

The class is derived from the ROOT class TSelector.

For more information on the TSelector framework see $ROOTSYS/README/README.SELECTOR or the ROOT User Manual.

The following methods are defined in this file:

  • Begin(): called every time a loop on the tree starts, a convenient place to create your histograms.
  • SlaveBegin(): called after Begin(), when on PROOF called only on the slave servers.
  • Process(): called for each event, in this function you decide what to read and fill your histograms.
  • SlaveTerminate: called at the end of the loop on the tree, when on PROOF called only on the slave servers.
  • Terminate(): called at the end of the loop on the tree, a convenient place to draw/fit your histograms.

To use this file, try the following session on your Tree T:

Root > T->Process("TSelectorEntries.C")
Root > T->Process("TSelectorEntries.C","some options")
Root > T->Process("TSelectorEntries.C+")

Member Function Documentation

◆ Begin()

void TSelectorEntries::Begin ( TTree tree)
overridevirtual

The Begin() function is called at the start of the query.

When running with PROOF Begin() is only called on the client. The tree argument is deprecated (on PROOF 0 is passed).

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 81 of file TSelectorEntries.cxx.

static
Returns
TClass describing this class

◆ GetSelectedRows()

virtual Long64_t TSelectorEntries::GetSelectedRows ( ) const
inlinevirtual

Definition at line 52 of file TSelectorEntries.h.

◆ Init()

void TSelectorEntries::Init ( TTree tree)
overridevirtual

The Init() function is called when the selector needs to initialize a new tree or chain.

Typically here the branch addresses and branch pointers of the tree will be set. It is normally not necessary to make changes to the generated code, but the routine can be extended by the user if needed. Init() will be called many times when running on PROOF (once per file to be processed).

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 129 of file TSelectorEntries.cxx.

◆ IsA()

TClass * TSelectorEntries::IsA ( ) const
inlineoverridevirtual
Returns
TClass describing current object

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 60 of file TSelectorEntries.h.

◆ Notify()

bool TSelectorEntries::Notify ( )
overridevirtual

This function is called at the first entry of a new tree in a chain.

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 136 of file TSelectorEntries.cxx.

◆ Process()

bool TSelectorEntries::Process ( Long64_t  entry)
overridevirtual

The Process() function is called for each entry in the tree (or possibly keyed object in the case of PROOF) to be processed.

The entry argument specifies which entry in the currently loaded tree is to be processed. It can be passed to either TSelectorEntries::GetEntry() or TBranch::GetEntry() to read either all or the required parts of the data. When processing keyed objects with PROOF, the object is already loaded and is available via the fObject pointer.

This function should contain the "body" of the analysis. It can contain simple or elaborate selection criteria, run algorithms on the data of the event and typically fill histograms.

The processing can be stopped by calling Abort().

Use fStatus to set the return value of TTree::Process().

The return value is currently not used.

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 161 of file TSelectorEntries.cxx.

◆ SetObject()

void TSelectorEntries::SetObject ( TObject obj)
inlineoverridevirtual

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 54 of file TSelectorEntries.h.

◆ SetOption()

inlineoverridevirtual

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 53 of file TSelectorEntries.h.

◆ SetSelection()

void TSelectorEntries::SetSelection ( const char *  selection)
virtual

Set the selection expression.

Definition at line 198 of file TSelectorEntries.cxx.

◆ SlaveBegin()

void TSelectorEntries::SlaveBegin ( TTree tree)
overridevirtual

The SlaveBegin() function is called after the Begin() function.

When running with PROOF SlaveBegin() is called on each slave server. The tree argument is deprecated (on PROOF 0 is passed).

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 92 of file TSelectorEntries.cxx.

◆ SlaveTerminate()

void TSelectorEntries::SlaveTerminate ( void  )
overridevirtual

The SlaveTerminate() function is called after all entries or objects have been processed.

When running with PROOF SlaveTerminate() is called on each slave server.

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 217 of file TSelectorEntries.cxx.

◆ Streamer()

void TSelectorEntries::Streamer ( TBuffer R__b)
overridevirtual

Stream an object of class TObject.

Reimplemented from TSelector.

◆ StreamerNVirtual()

void TSelectorEntries::StreamerNVirtual ( TBuffer ClassDef_StreamerNVirtual_b)
inline

Definition at line 60 of file TSelectorEntries.h.

◆ Terminate()

void TSelectorEntries::Terminate ( void  )
overridevirtual

The Terminate() function is the last function to be called during a query.

It always runs on the client, it can be used to present the results graphically or save the results to file.

Reimplemented from TSelector.

Definition at line 227 of file TSelectorEntries.cxx.

◆ Version()

Int_t TSelectorEntries::Version ( ) const
inlineoverridevirtual
