ROOT Advanced Course 2026
(20 April 2026)We’ve heard you - at least some of you - and we organized the first edition of the ROOT Advanced Course!
The in-person only event took place at CERN in March and was attended by around 40 people. We assumed the participants had the basic familiarity with ROOT and we dived into more advanced topics right away. Similarly to our student course, we also used ROOT from Python via jupyter notebooks. The topics included RNTuples, Unified Histogram Interface (UHI), RooFit, Pythonizations and more advanced features of RDataFrame. We made the course interactive and we were happy to receive many interesting questions from the audience.
If you could not attend the course in March, you are invited to take a look at the course material while you can also watch the recorded (and edited) video of the course here. The instructions to be followed are given in the README at the course material repository.
If you have any feedback on what could be improved or added in the future editions of this course, please don’t hesitate to comment below or contact us otherwise. If you are teaching ROOT at your institution, please feel free to use this training material in your course. We would extremely appreciate your feedback on the course and we would be happy to discuss further collaboration, so do not hesitate to reach out to us!
