The Visualization Techniques

The ROOT framework provides many techniques to visualize multi-variable data sets from 2 until N variables. These techniques combine the 2D basic and high level graphics primitives. This "Composite Graphics" is implemented by several modules:

  • graf: pie charts drawing sits there.
  • histpainter: provides the painter classes to draw histograms via the THistPainter class and graphs via the TGraphPainter and TGraph2DPainter classes. The detailed documentation about the various options and techniques available to display histograms and graphs, is given in these classes' reference manual pages.
  • treeviewer: provides the tools to display trees as histograms representations, spider plots, candle plots and parallel coordinates plots.
