Do you have correct name servers configured? St home and at work on my Mac I get:

(proof) [129] time root.exe -n -q -l
root [0]

real    0m1.660s
user    0m0.130s
sys     0m0.042s

(proof) [130] time root.exe -n -q -l
root [0]

real    0m0.151s
user    0m0.124s
sys     0m0.021s

(proof) [131] time root.exe -n -q -l
root [0]

real    0m0.151s
user    0m0.124s
sys     0m0.024s

where the first time is after a fresh restart.
