While compiling root_v5.06.00 I noticed quite long delays while running configure.classic from the xrootd package. A closer look revealed that this script always searches /afs/slac.stanford.edu/ for kerberos libs. I don't think that this is a good idea, because even if that should be the only source for kerberos libs, I'd hesitate to deploy software which depends on a foreign AFS cell during runtime. Mounting an empty tmpfs over /afs/slac.stanford.edu fixed the problem ;-)
