ROOT and gcc 3.4.X

Hi all!
I must install ROOT on a Fedora Core 3, but it uses gcc 3.4 that isn't supported yet by ROOT 4.X. There is a system to install it on that Linux distribution? Or ROOT version 5.X will support gcc 3.4.X? Thanks a lot for any information
