[ROOT] Benchmarking clusters with ROOT

Hi, I did not find anything about this on the "search". I hope it is 
O.K if I post it here.

I am on a project at NTNU,  Norwegian University of Science and 
Technology, which is benchmarking clusters (using virtualization on 
each node). We are considering ROOT to use as a "test system", then 
with focus on I/O usage. Is ROOT suited for this kind of benchmarking 
e.g. in a cluster for measuring I/O usage and CPU performance? Is ROOT 
both simulating and benchmarking the system, or only simulating?
