[ROOT] How to project 2D histogram to a curve

Dear rooter,
As the title, how to project a 2D histogram to a curve?
E.g., I have the attached curve and a 2D histogram. I want to project 
the data to this curve to get a TH1F histogram. Of course, the data 
scattering on the 2D histogram are close to this curve.
I didn't find any examples from the $ROOTSYS/test and 
$ROOTSYS/tutorials. I hope someone can help me.
