Hello Francois, Sometime ago I did make a ROOT distribution compiled with Vc7 and did upload it on my Web site ( http://root.bnl.gov ) I did this because I met no compilation problem (for 3.03.09 and 3.04) and all ROOT tests delivered the right results also. However some of my user who had downloaded and installed that version complained it did not work properly. They did provide a ROOT macro that worked well under the same ROOT version compiled with VC6, and it delivered the meaningless result made with the same ROOT version but compiled with Vc7. The reason for that is not clear yet. By this reason I had to withdraw the version compiled and VC7 and replaced it with the well-tested Vc6 compiled. I'd like to mention even though the ROOT itself was compiled with Vc6 one can have compiled his own code with Vc7 with no problem (Let me know just you find one). What about 3.05 ROOT version from the ROOT CVS repository that version can not be compiled with VC. The couple of the pieces from the new ROOT code need to be "adjusted" by hand. (See Matt's patch). Therefore I think it is too early to make the ROOT release with Vc7 officially. One should wait the next Studio service pack to see whether the known compilation problem will be persisting.
