I also found this in the CINT Release notes page:
* 5.15.29, Jan 27 2002
* - , fstream::is_open removed again
* - , vector::clear(), list::clear() added to prec_stl
* - , 1604, bool changed from int to unsigned char
so perhaps it works properly in more recent releases than the one you are
using...
