Hello! I am a grad student who is just learning root to start doing some data analysis (primarily maximum likelihood fits). I had never used root or any of the other common HEP analysis tools (like PAW, etc.), before about two weeks ago but I have quite a bit of programming/UNIX experience. Is there a good root introduction out there that is more of a "how to" manual than the user's guide(from the CERN web site)? I'm finding it difficult to use that reference to learn basic things like importing text data files, or other basic operations. Thanks! Cheers, Victor M.
