I don't know if my case is helpful for you. I use TH1 functions to create a normalize function by myself. e.g.
TAxis *hxis=h1->GetAaxis();
binx1=(*his).GetFirst(); binx2=(*his).getLast();
BinContent=h1->GetBinContent(binx);
........
