hi rooters,

we get a similar error message

Error in <RootX11ErrorHandler>: BadAccess (attempt to access private
resource denied) (XID: 0)

when trying to interact with a canvas: draw a histo then click in the
canvas ==>> xterm dead.
the only workaraound seems to be a

    gROOT->SetStyle("Plain");

then at least it is possible to click in a canvas etc. but still using the
gui to change for example line colors results in the error above.
using macros and no gui interaction works most of the time.

we suspect it must have someting to do with us using root on Tektronix
X-Stations (maybe an outdated builtin x-server??) as no pc is showing the
mentioned symptoms.

root versions 3.00/05 / 3.00/06 do not show this behavior, but needing
some fixes of the cvs version we are forced to use 3.03.

did anybody have similar problems?

bye
