Hi Patrick,
Your best bet is to compile your code with ACLiC:
root [] .L canpat3.cpp++
You will have to add the proper #include directive
and modify any usage of CINT shortcuts but this
will give you (most of the time :) ) a much better
error message.

PS. I dont think that there is currently a way to use
the CINT option '-p' which the root executable. However,
It can be used with rootcint.
