hi all,
this is not a question, it's just a warning/advice!
i lost 2 weeks looking for the error in my/ROOT's code, which was completely
useless, since it was an hardware problem:
i used to have a lot of non deterministic errors like:
R__unzip: discrepancy with initial size
Error in <TBasket::ReadBasketBuffers>: fObjlen = 112932, nout = 0
when running a program.
i also encounted strange things like:
- internal compiler error (while compiling big things)
- zipping was ok, but unzipping (sometimes) did not work)
well, in my case it was the MEMORY, which was corrupted.
going to a store and spending 30euro for a new RAM solved the problem.
use memtest86 to find memory problems.
ps: reading in newsgroups i also learned that problems of this kind can also
be related to cach, cpu, cpu-cooling, cable-lenght, ... problems.
but it always seemed to be a hardware problem, though.
so long,
martin
