Hi all, 

You might like to get some RPMs of ROOT.  Get 'em from 

    http://cholm.home.cern.ch/cholm/root 

A desription af the creation procedure is to be found on that page
too. 

Unfortunately I didn't have libshift.a on the system I build the
packages on, so the root-shift package is not avaliable.  You'll also
find a source package at the same place.   If you'd like to install
root-pythia you should install my pythia rpms too, avaliable from 

    http://cholm.home.cern.ch/cholm/pythia

Currently, there's no support for root-psql or root-sapdb packages in
ROOT.  Hopefully that should not be too far out in the future.
