I append below a very similar message that I got
from ROOT.
After some investigation, I found out that this
was a result of mixing different shared libraries when
running ROOT. i.e. some of the libraries I was loading
came from one ROOT version (e.g. 3.00.02) and some
from others. After checking to make sure I was loading
all of the libraries from the same version, the problem
went away.
