Designing icons

When designing icons, you should compare the appearance of your icons with the standard Workspace icons to determine if the size is appropriate. Maximum sizes have been set for normal and small icons, though in general, the system icons are slightly smaller than the maximum. The icons you design should be visually compatible with the system icons.

The maximum size for normal icons is 40 x 40 pixels. The system's default document icon is 28 x 36 pixels and the default folder icon is 36 x 28 pixels.

The maximum size for small icons is 18 x 18 pixels. The system's default document icon is 14 x 18 pixels and the default folder icon is 18 x 15 pixels.
